Brands to Know: Faherty

Identical twins (and lifelong surf enthusiasts) Alex and Mike Faherty launched their namesake brand in 2013, fulfilling their dream of designing a stylish, comfortable, high-quality clothing line that would complement their love for outdoor adventures.

Growing up surfing in a beach town, the brothers couldn’t find high quality clothing that reflected their casual lifestyle. After many years of weeding through surf shop clothing racks while admiring their dad’s tailored Italian suits and vintage Hawaiian shirts, Mike and Alex decided to start their own clothing brand and the idea stuck.

The venture not only brings together the brothers in business, but also their unique skill sets, each of which is tailor-made for building a new clothing brand. Mike, seen above left, worked at Ralph Lauren for seven years, five of which were spent designing shirts for RRL while Alex, right, was the businessman, cutting his teeth in investment banking and private equity. Both men left their jobs in the last year to focus on Faherty full-time, working towards the beach lifestyle line’s first release, their perfect eco-friendly swim trunk.

Since the successful debut of their first collection, the brothers have successfully elevated the “beachwear” category with a collection of shirts, shorts and more that showcase a refined level of timeless style, premium fabric quality, and superior construction.
